THE PROCESS

Working with Master Kiln Builders involves four stages: planning, preparation, construction and firing.

It is advisable to begin planning your kiln several months in advance, to be sure you get exactly what you need. We will work closely with you to help determine your specific requirements. Once the specifications are determined, we will provide you with a written estimate of anticipated costs.

Several weeks before we are scheduled to arrive, you will begin site preparation (e.g. pouring a nice flat slab, building a shed roof, clearing out the area). We will coordinate all shipping of materials to the site. If necessary, we will communicate directly with city officials or inspectors to help with the permit process.

Construction of gas car kilns usually takes 6-8 days, depending on size. Wood kilns vary from 7-14 days. We bring all necessary equipment and supplies that are not available on site.

And as part of the deal, we can stay and assist you with the first kiln firing. But we won't just leave you there – we are available for support and troubleshooting throughout the life of your kiln.
